10. The new Pirates of the Caribbean movie; Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End will be out in May. Okay, okay, so we know that this has nothing to do with music but the second installment of the series, Dead Man’s Chest grossed over $1.06 billion worldwide so we are taking a gamble that there are a few of you excited about this one as well. Johnny Depp has stolen our hearts and imaginations as Captain Jack Sparrow. There are even a few women who would not mind playing his bar wench.
9. Sugarland. The country music duo from Texas will be on tour all summer long. Hey, Jennifer Nettles, the group’s vocals did a kick ass number with Bon Jovi and she actually made the song better. No reason to be a closet fan any longer…Bottom line: We like ‘em and you should too.
8. Evanescence is kicking off their American tour for The Open Door. The much anticipated sophomore album from the group dropped in October and ever since they have been humping it all over the world to promote it. We are more than excited to see Amy Lee and crew back on American soil. And just in time for one helluva spring tour.
7. Beale Street Music Festival. Speaking of things that are much anticipated… Each May the City of Memphis, Tennessee, hosts the weekend long rock fest. Last year they had headliners like Jerry Lee Lewis, Staind, Little Richard and Three Days Grace. It has not been announced who will be on board for the show this year but it is a guaranteed rockin’ time. We will be sure to bring you more information when we have it. Until then though, start practicing putting your devil horns in the air.
6. The Police. That’s right, The Police will be back on tour this summer with Sting at the helm. Enough said.
5. Ludacris. There are only a few dates listed on his website right now and they are in Alabama, Louisiana and Pennsylvania right now but you can bet your ass we will be there Shakin’ Our Money Makers.
4. Justin Timberlake. The soulful crooner is bringing sexy back to the 50 red white and blue states starting in February. We are going to have to get up close and personal with the man they call JT to see what all of the hype is all about.
3. Chevelle. The guys from Chicago are back and we are ready for them. On April 3, 2007, Pete, Sam and Dean will give all rock fans a much needed dose of medicine in the form of “Vena Sera,” their new album. Did we mention that they will be on tour with Evanescence, our number nine reason to get stoked for 2007.
2. Three Days Grace. If you did not heed our advice last year and you somehow failed to see this band live, first off, shame on you and second, you will get another chance. We know, we know, lucky you, right. Three Days Grace is undoubtedly one of the best bands out touring right now. The tracks they laid down for “One X” are sure to have you singing along and blowing out your speakers for years to come. This is one killer rock show so do yourself a favor, get off your ass and GO.
1. 2007 will be one helluva year for new music. All of the music that is coming out this year. Everyone who is any good will be releasing a CD this year. Incubus has already begun the bliss that is rock with their new album, “Light Grenades.” (We should mention that they will also be on tour this summer.) Hell, even J.Lo has decided to make a return to her music roots.
