Alison Becker is one Funny Product that Emerge From the Elite Georgetown Student Body and is Proud to Showcase Her Affiliation With the GEMA and GEMA Rocks

Washington, DC--

When it comes to Georgetown University there are few people that automatically think of the school as the music product it really has been for the past 30 years. This past weekend the school hosted the 3rd annual GEMA rocks concert which featured some of the best song writers and musicians to come from the hilltop.

From Grammy award winners to current students the GEMA Rocks concert packed the house of the Gonda Theatre for the third night in a row. Hosted by fellow Georgetown Alum and the very funny Alison Becker (C'99) who according to her experiences really have enjoyed the party side of Georgetown.

Becker who is most recently known for her role as Becky in the IFC original series Z-Rock and as a VH 1 VJ certainly did her school well as the audience loved her comments about her experiences. She was even very interactive with the undergrad crowd in attendance and wanted to know where their parties were there after.

Other performances included performances by current Georgetown student and Vans Warped Tour performer Johnny Zambetti (B' 09). Zambetti who has been performing as a musician since age 10 is the third generation Georgetown product to be a success of a musical background while on campus. Teddy Zambetti (C'80), the founding father of the Georgetown Cabaret and John Zambetti (C'70) joined Johnny on stage to show the power of Georgetown music talent.

The most awaited part of the evening came from Bill Danoff (I '68) and Walter Egan (C'70). Danoff who in our opinion is a close tie with Danoff for the most successful to emerge from the Cabaret of Georgetown. Danoff who co-authored a song that most everyone knows with John Denver, "Take Me Home Country Roads" and his second most popular song "Afternoon Delight" was easily one of the most liked performances of the night. Bill has 2 Grammy Awards to his honor and has been nominated for another five. He is extremely proud of his Georgetown heritage and was delighted to be a part of what he called a great organization in GEMA and a great evening of music.

gema rocks full stageEgan who closed the performance with two of his classics including the widely known 1978 million selling single record, "Magnet and Steel. " Egan who returned to Georgetown this past year to teach music certainly knows what a huge part of his success came from the days at 1608 Wisconsin Avenue. Having worked with music greats such as Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac.

For anyone who knows how the music and entertainment business has changed in the past 10 years, after this performance it was a test to how close nit the Georgetown family is when it comes to a organization like GEMA. It is a great group of people and I highly recommend any alumni that is in the music or entertainment business take a look at the great products they produce, this concert being one of them.
