Once again,
Once again, our staff at Pointed Magazine is dedicated to bringing its readers the hottest products for the Year 2004. Our staff has found another must have product that is sure to be on the list of must have products in 2004, Sideshow Collectables. While some movie and television fans have seen collectables available from local stores, wait until you have the chance to own a collectable that is so real, you will think the real character has dropped by in a miniature form.
Just as we have done in all of our product reviews so far, we have found the hottest products that consumers can get their hands on for the money and we have found one that any one of our readers will be delighted to enjoy in their free time. Whether you are looking for a gift or collect some of the hottest pieces from television or movie history, any of the collectable figures from Sideshow will be a welcome addition to any home or office.
For those of our readers who may be unfamiliar with Sideshow Collectables, well then you have been missing out on a Westlake Village California based company that manufactures licensed collectable products for Terminator 3, The Lord of the Rings, James Bond, Star Trek, Simpsons, Universal Studios Classic Monsters, Jason, Freddy Krueger and Leatherface. One of the most unique features of all of the pieces that Sideshow offers is that they are Limited Edition and only available for a limited time, so the pieces we reviewed were hard to come by.
Our first Limited Edition collectable we reviewed were the Simpson's Polystone Busts. Each of the 8 Springfield's most loved characters feature a classic, fluted faux marble column along with the characters name embroidered on the front.
After you take each one of the figures out of the package, you will have a character that will display almost anywhere in either the house or home. Our Polystone bust of The Comic Book Guy was nothing less than flawless and the details were amazing.
From the time you open the box, until where ever you decide to place any of the Simpsons characters, most collectors will admire the detail and the effort each artist puts into the character to ensure that is nothing less than an authentic look.
After closely examining The Comic Book Guy's paint, it looked like each one of his pieces of his costume was individually placed on him then painted, rather than it being one whole piece. From his gloves to his belt to the face mask, Homer Simpson never looked this good in a collectable.
One of the best features of the Simpsons collectables is their price. For all of the detail and quality work put into each piece, they are a steal at $35 each. This price is better than some of the Simpsons items sold at local department and toy stores that have been mass produced. So whether you like Bart of Lisa, there is a character from the Simpsons to suit you needs. With this quality we highly suggest picking up the entire cast.
After looking at the quality of the Simpsons products, we decided to look at another licensed product from Sideshow that has made a comeback, the Muppet Show characters.
The show recently celebrated its 25th Anniversary and this is your chance to own one or all of the characters from the show in the same quality that the Simpsons characters created in. The Muppet Show characters come in five different series with the final one being released this past December. You can choose whether to purchase each character separately or the entire set. While the Muppets Polystone Busts are a bit pricier at $50 to $65, they are also a bit larger with most around 8'' in height. Another great addition to a desk or display case.
The two collectables we looked at were Dr. Bunsen Honeydew's trusty assistant Beaker and the original Muppet himself, Kermit. If you like Kermit and collect anything Muppets, then this one piece you can not do without. The detail is amazing and it almost looks like he has real green fur applied to the bust. Once again everything from the color used to the exact specs for the eyes and mouth create the real Muppet effect. We had to take a second look when we thought we heard him talk the bust was close to real.
So whether you are looking for your favorite movie character or a gift for the home or office, any of the Sideshow Collectables will be a gift that keeps on giving for years to come and will certainly hold its value with the Limited Editions. The only disadvantage to the Sideshow Collectables is that they do sell quickly and some of the characters mentioned in the feature may be sold out by the time you read this.
