The Redskins Took Dwayne Haskins In the First Round of the NFL Draft at 15th

When you throw a party on NFL Draft night, usually the waiting game goes pretty quickly. That wasn’t the case for Dwayne Haskins tonight, as the quarterback predicted to be picked in the Top 10 of the 2019 NFL Draft fell all the way to 15th and was selected by the Washington Redskins.

Earlier in the week, there was some speculation that the Redskins could possibly take Haskins if he was still left on the board when their pick came around, or perhaps they may trade up to get him. Neither was the case and their pick came into place shortly after 10pm tonight.

The shock value for most came when Haskins was laughing at the Giants picking The 6-foot-5, 221-pound Daniel Jones before him in the draft. Let us not forget that Jones has a connection to Manning through Duke coach David Cutcliffe, who coached both Eli and Peyton Manning in college and remains tight with the brothers. Jones has developed a relationship with Eli and Peyton through Cutcliffe and has attended the Manning Passing Academy multiple times.

For Haskins, he comes to a Redskins team where they needed a quarterback who could generate a little buzz. Haskins was a record-setting quarterback at Ohio State with special arm talent and a strong work ethic.

“I am happy to come home to play for a team like the Redskins,” said Haskins. Growing up in this area after moving from New Jersey it was always something that I dreamed about. I would have gone anywhere, but to be close to my family and friends from Bullis, its pretty amazing.”
