Potomac, MD--
It might have taken days or what might have seem like weeks to Ben Curtis, but after six days of play at the TPC Avenel, Ben Curtis was able to take home the trophy from the Booz Allen Classic.
The only problem for Curtis... was there were not to many fans that had to the chance to see him take the trophy on the 18th green. The trophy celebration was inside of the clubhouse and the course was closed to fans on tuesday, as the tour did not arrange for security to let the general public see the final holes.
"It was a fantastic week, golf-wise," said Curtis, who finished at 20-under-par 264. "I probably played the best I've ever played for three rounds and 16 holes."
"Anyone who plays this game, they don't want to be a 54-hole winner," Curtis said. "Obviously you'll take it, you won't complain about it, but I think if you have a choice to play 72 holes, you want to play 72 holes."
Curtis, who earned $900,000, finished five shots ahead of Billy Andrade (64), Padraig Harrington (66), (67) and Steve Stricker (68).
