On paper the Hoyas match-up against the Navy Midshipmen favored the Hoyas, but the pesky defense of the middies gave the Hoyas everything they could handle in he first half, but a strong second half allowed the Hoyas to pull away.
Jeff Green showed some of the offensive prowess that led the Hoyas to a victory wednesday night over Towson. Green today led the Hoyas with 20 points. The Hoyas will need much more of his presence if they want to be redy
Navy made only one of its first 11 field-goal attempts and Georgetown opened 3 for 11 from the field. The Hoyas shot 50 percent in the second half to finish at 43 percent.
Roy Hibbert helped Green adding 15 points and seven rebounds for the Hoyas who improved to(9-3).
The Hoyas shot 43.2 percent from the field overall (19-of-44),ending a streak of four games in which the team hit at least 55 percent of their field goals. The team was 4-of-16 from three-point land (25.0%) and 23-of-27 from the free throw line (85.2%). Navy shot 31.3 percent from the floor (15-of-48), 18.2 percent from the arc (4-of-22) and 83.3 percent from the free throw line (10-of-12). Georgetown dominated on the glass, holding a 41-18 advantage; handed out 11 assists and had 17 turnovers.
"Our guys fought hard today. We will take a couple days off and get ready for Michigan," said Hoyas Head Coach John Thompson III.
Patrick Ewing Jr. finished off the Midshipmen when he buried a three pointer making it 65-44 with a minute remaining.
