Amare Stoudamire Led the Way With 27 Points in Rout

Washington, DC--

One of the best teams in the NBA visited the Verizon Center tonight and the result showed why the Phoenix Suns are one of the best teams, but just when are they going to win a NBA Championship, is this their season? Based on the performance of Steve Nash and his troops tonight ,this might be the year.

Steve Nash delivered a season-high 19 assists, Amare Stoudemire scored 27 points, and Raja Bell had 14 of his 22 points during a game-deciding third quarter, helping Phoenix beat Washington 122-107 Friday night for its fifth consecutive victory.

Perhaps the biggest part of the box score were the19 assists by Nash. Many of the players were in disbelief including Nash himself.

"When the ball moves like that," Nash said, "we're difficult to guard."

The Wizards were led by reserve forward Andray Blatche's 19 points and 10 rebounds. Washington's leading scorer, Caron Butler, was held to 12 points.

For the Wizards they knew it was going to be a long night when the Suns jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead and never looked back.

The Suns didn't need to look back as they shot a blazing 77.8 percent in the third period. Not many teams even with their leader in the line-up would be able to match the ball distribution that the Suns exhibited for the entire game tonight.

The Suns' scoring was well-divided, with six players in double-figures. Nash finished with 12 points, Leandro Barbosa had 20 points and seven assists, Grant Hill had 18 points and eight assists, and Shawn Marion had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
