Canton, OH–

There have been some seriously strange twists in the career and life of Terrell Owens, but to decline an invite on your own HOF Enshrinement weekend is certainly a little bit on the bizarre. Well, this is Terrell Owens we are talking about here. Should this surprise fans of his over the years? Some say yes and some say no.

“After visiting Canton earlier this year, I came to the realization that I wish to celebrate what will be one of the most memorable days of my life, elsewhere,” Owens added. “At a later date, I will announce where and when I will celebrate my induction.”

The hall confirmed that the former All-Pro receiver informed them he would not be on hand Aug. 4 for the enshrinements.

One of the longtime favorites of our staff, Ray Lewis commented on Owens not attending the celebration.

“Terrell had such an impact on the league and everyone is entitled to their personal time and respects paid, but the Hall of Fame Weekend has some of the bests of our game in town for a weekend. I will say that its a great honor for me, no matter what people are saying about the league or what people believe is right at this time, this is a time to celebrate your achievements as a player and see your name forever cemented in history with a special jacket to wear,” said Lewis.

Whether Owens changes his mind is yet to be seen, plenty of time remains and there is still a chance he will make an appearance.
