Recently our staff was in the Wilmington area covering several events and we had heard through readers emails that there was this remarkable salon and hair stylist that we just could not pass up. Not only is Headlines Hair salon one of the top recommended in the Wilmington area, we found that they were also extremely lucky to possibly have one of the top stylists found in the State of  North Carolina in Wanda Kicklighter.

After taking the recommendations from our readers into consideration, Pointed Magazine decided to let one of our staff members try one of Wanda's hair reconstructor treatments, which was only a small part of what she and Headlines Hair have to offer.

One of the first things we really liked about this Salon was the environment. Each and everyone there takes great pride in making this your best hair experience possible. But, what we found in Wanda will make you want to come back to her time after time.

She starts with each and everyone of her clients with an explanation of what is best for your hair. "Since everyone's hair is different it is important to make the best recommendations based on what the client wants," says Kicklighter. "Not every product or what each client wants may be right for their hair."

We decided that we would take her recommendation of a reconstructor treatment and when her hair was done, the professionalism and Wanda's experience really showed.

First she started our four hour treatment by taking four inches off the hair base and then she started the reconstruction process, part of which included one hour of conditioning and 30 minutes of heating and drying the hair, which when we were done left the hair silky smooth.

While our staff member has been to many salons before, it was clear that when Wanda was done with her hair it took on a entirely different look, something that we had never seen in her hair before.

The first thing what we liked about the services that Wanda and Headlines Hair provided was the professionalism provided. Some salons we have tried in the past seemed more concerned with volume rather than quality.

The second thing we liked was her experience and dedication to her clients. She uses her Certification in Matrix products and her ability to test all products she and the salon uses on her daughters prior to using them on her clients hair. She also travels to seminars nationwide to gain the additional knowledge on what is best in the industry for hair.

While you may spend several hundred dollars too much at other salons, you will not even come close here and you leave the results will look like what you should have paid top dollar for only you will still have money left in your purse.

After we were done with our service, Wanda offered us some tips that we could use at home to keep our hair looking great for weeks to come.

A few tips that she said are extremely important are things like always rinsing your hair in cold water. This will help to keep your hair follicles together and help stop breakage. Secondly, do not wrap your hair in a  wet towel, as you should always pat your hair dry with the towel and not the towel itself. Third, do not use alcohol based products or shampoo and conditioners in one, such as Pert. Lastly, she says to always consult a professional regarding products used in your hair, as the wrong ones can end up wasting your money and damaging your hair.

Overall, we were impressed with the way the Wanda represented the services provided at Headlines Hair.  She and the staff certainly know how to make their clients happy and return time after time.
