Our staff at Pointed Magazine has been known to be the most accessible when it comes to answering emails and has ventured to some different parts of the United States to review some of what we call hidden gems. We are happy to report that we have found another city, Appleton, Wisconsin that offers some great small town flavor, but also has one hell of a great spa in Spa BenMarNico’s

Located on the lower level of the Copper Leaf Hotel in Downtown Appleton, Spa BenMarNico’s when you have you feeling warm when you walk though the doors and all fuzzy when you are ready to leave.

What we really liked about the spa is all of the amenities they offer in such a small boutique hotel. You can easily feel like you have stepped into the likes of a five star resort that offers a full service salon, fitness center and whirlpool facility.

When you walk into the spa you will see that everyone here wants to treat you like royalty. From the complementary glass of wine while waiting for your services to each to the staff members making you feel right at home spending the one on one time you have come to love from the best spas in the nation.

Each one of the locker rooms is a place you will want to hang out for more than just waiting for your services, you will want to sit back and indulge in college football game on their plasma television or just lounge on their comfy couches, Spa BenMarNico’s just makes it hard to leave after any of their services.

While it was hard to get me out of the locker room when it came time for the Signature Massage, we can tall you it is well worth moving very quickly for, because once you have had one service, you will be quickly asking if they have room for something else.

The Signature Massage is the most popular and is their traditional Swedish massage, which employs long, firm strokes as well as kneading and circular movements to soothe muscles and induce relaxation of the nervous system and the entire body. While we generally have not found a Swedish Massage under 60 minutes that was worth the money, they did a great job here focusing on the areas that I pinpointed and not just doing as they please in a short period of time. They made it feel more like a 60 minute massage, or maybe I was still so relaxed from the couch in the lounge, I had to ask if it was only 30 minutes.

There are eight different massages available which included the ever popular couples massage for 30 minutes at $88 or 120 minutes for $326. This is a great way to rekindle a relationship or even show off with romantic afternoon with a new girlfriend of boyfriend. The Hot Stone Massage is also another popular option that has taken off nationwide. It is available in 60, 90 and 2 hour increments. Wow, 2 hours of stone would have you feeling like you’re on cloud nine for sure.

For those looking for a great selection of facials, try one of their nine selection they offer with the Organic Facial, which almost makes you want to eat the mask with pumpkin, cranberry, lemon chiffon or yogurt choices of mask, who would want anything else. The pumpkin is a huge fall hit; just don’t try it for dessert.

Since Spa BenMarNico’s is one of the few high end full service spas in the city, they also offer both men’s and women’s hair services and they are also very popular with bridal parties offering updo’s and professional make-up application and even lessons. Yes, there are some we observed later that night in the downtown bars that we hope read this review and stop in for those services.

With so many of the celebrities trying new body treatments, many spas have added many more options for body treatments and BenMarNico’s has seven different options from their Mocha Coffee Wrap (75 minutes, $89), please don’t eat this one…. to the solar bronze, which includes an exfoliation and hydrating tanning product added to the skin. This service is instant Hollywood, and we promise it won’t look drugstore “cheesy.”

Enough with the Wisconsin comments, by the time you have any of the services and have also had the chance to sit in the Jacuzzi; it is going to be hard to leave. It was hard for me and I was only there for an hour.

Thanks for Sue for all of her hospitality and to the staff, they certainly know how to keep customers returning for months and years to come. Spa BenMarNico’s is certainly a fresh addition to a small sometimes passed over town in Wisconsin. Both the Copperleaf Hotel and Spa BenMarNico’s have given Appleton something new and exciting to want to see while your there. Plan a trip, at least we can guarantee the spa services will be more than worth it and then some.
