The last time we visited the Buffalo area was less than pleasurable as we were faced with snow storms, unable to discover warm and welcoming hotels while putting Niagara Falls into the trip. Again after reviewing reader suggestions, we have found a much more pleasurable experience in Buffalo that starts with a little boutique hotel, the Hotel Indigo Amherst- Buffalo.
Once you walk into the hotel you will begin to see why many of our readers have suggested that we feature the property, as it offers quite the experience. Each nook and cranny of the hotel is bursting with vibrant colors and décor that makes a hotel stay more than just a hotel stay.
Like most of the Hotel Indigo properties across the country, each one possesses its own identity. You will see many key features of the area painted on the walls; Niagara Falls and even the colorful maple leafs of the fall. The staff throughout the hotel is just as nice as the décor itself. With a very speedy check-in process it made it easier to sit back and enjoy all of the amenities the Indigo has to offer.
Walking to the room you will see more of the unique features of the hotel. Light blue colored ceilings running throughout the hotel along with the cloud painted ceilings in the elevators are sure to enhance your mood morning or evening with calming colors.
The interior of the rooms is once again well thought out. The two-room suite is one of the most spacious you will find anywhere in Buffalo. The layout is excellent for entertaining clients of even throwing a cocktail party of your own with the mini bar area and four bar stools that sit in front of a small kitchenette. We liked the hardwood floored entry way and separate closet areas in that room to store luggage out of the way of the bedroom area.
Inside of the bedroom area guests can expect more space. Once you lay in the bed, surrounded by pillows it is extremely difficult to want to exit the bedroom. Maybe it was all of the pillows they provide or just the comforting colors all through the room.
If spacious bathrooms are a must, in case both guests in the room have to start their day at the same time, the long marble sink area will allow more than enough space for two guests to be in the bathroom area at the same time.
The shower area is huge. Stand-up or sit down on the teak chair and shave or relax with the Moen showerhead certainly make this something very unique and enjoyable to the Indigo properties.
After a quick recharge we recommend checking out the work-out area or “phittness” area as the hotel calls it, which is equipped with state of the art circuit machines and treadmills, ensuring that there is enough room for all to stay looking pretty like the hotels itself.
Working out not your thing? Try taking a dip in their spacious pool, which is again a nice feature that many boutique hotels lack. You have all of the features of the big hotel with the small-scale personalization at the Indigo.
When you want to have a cocktail after a long day, you don’t have to venture far to find the cool curved bar area in the lobby. While the bar is usually packed in the early evening hours, it is the two big signature beach style wooden chairs that are sought after by guests having a drink or two or three as comfortable as they make it for you to enjoy their property.
The lobby bar area offers a full compliment of menu items, which include what we believe, is the best one on the menu, the crab cake sandwich.
For the morning folks, the Indigo starts your day off right with a full service Starbucks area with everything you will need for a snack or to get you going.
We must say that the Hotel Indigo goes out of the way to satisfy its guests. With fresh baked cookies in the evening to the airport shuttle service offered in a Cadillac Escalade, they certainly understand that service comes first before anything else.
