With their sophomore attempt, Karma and Effect, Seether is out to tell the world that they are here to stay and assuring all rock fans that the “pop era” of rock is over (thank God).
With their single, “Remedy”, Seether cranks out a powerful song that will have you rolling the windows down and blowing out your speakers while Pat Callahan’s powerful and gripping guitar solos in “The Gift” will stir your soul to make you feel the desperation heard in Shaun Morgan’s voice.
“Given” makes me wonder if Seether will prove to be one of the greatest rock bands of our generation. One thing is for sure and that is that the boys from South Africa (Shaun Morgan and Dale Stewart) have come to rescue the airwaves and rock our worlds.
For anyone who questioned whether or not Seether sold out when they crossed over into the pop world with their hit “Broken,” Karma and Effect is the answer with harder, stronger and even better songs than were found on their debut album, Disclaimer and the extended version, Disclaimer II.
So, while I sit here and wonder if this CD will ever manage to get old (and I doubt it) I leave you with the bottom line: No rock fan’s album collection will ever be complete without the addition of Karma and Effect and we should all thank Shaun Morgan, Dale Stewart, Pat Callahan and John Humphrey for doing their part to help save the face of rock and roll.
