If your looking for a show that packs great sound, great history and great fans, then you most certainly have to check the Heart show, as Ann and Nancy Wilson were Kickin It Out for a packed house at the Luxor Theatre over Labor Day weekend.
One of the major differences of the band on this tour comes from the sounds of new bassist Ric Markmann, who considers himself a lifelong musician from Canberra, Australia. Markman has worked with the likes of Chris Cornell, Eleven and now is a partner in Matter (mattermusic.com), which has composed what he calls a ton of music for movies, including their biggest to date, the Wedding Crashers. His addition to the band compliments two of the best female rockers ever.
One thing that never ceases to amaze us is the following the band has. I guess 30 years of great music probably helps as well and a great venue like the Luxor Theatre and of course the great city of Las Vegas made for a great place to see this band... which seems to never quit.
Ann Wilson’s voice was damn near perfect, as always. As the audience start tearing up during “Alone,” and “Lost Angel,” an often-ignored yet brilliant piece from the band’s latest album, the sisters effect on their fans was felt through the entire set. was stunning during the encore.
Nancy was elegant and classy as always, and her vocal on “These Dreams” is always a highlight. We must admit she does a great Led Zeppelin and Tom Petty remake as well. While covers are not usually huge sellers of die hard fans during manyshows, hearing the sisters belt out these tunes was music to our ears and everyone in the packed Luxor Theatre.
If you take the time to see their 90 minute set, here is what to expect. Magic Man, Straight On, Love Alive, Bebe Le Strange, Kick it Out, Even it Up, These Dreams, Alone, No Way Back, Love Reign On Me, The Real Me, Barracuda, Crazy On You, Black Dog, Misty Mountain Hop. Encore: Lost Angel, Dreamboat Annie. While each city of the tour might differ a little , you can expect to hear Ann and Nancy combine for one of the best rock shows that is still hitting the road year after year.
