Baltimore, MD--
Two-time Grammy-nominated urban jazz icon Boney James stepped onto the Hippodrome stage with a huge smile and was elated to see the sold out crowd in Baltimore. Boney James then yelled out to the crowd and said, “How is everyone doing”. The audience response to his question was overwhelming. Boney hit the Baltimore crowd fast and hard with “Stone Groove” from his “Pure” CD.
The cut was received by the over flowing crowd with a heartfelt love and Boney James was eager to please. Boney James’ next cut “In The Rain” came from his new September 2006 release “Shine” CD, which is a remake of the R&B group the Dramatics 1971 hit song. This cut featured R&B vocalist Dwele.
While Dwele was not in attendance, Boney James’ fellow band members performed the back up vocals on this seductive number. It was a fabulous performance.
James continued the show with the likes of “Let It Go”, “Metropolis”, and “Aguas De Marco” also off the new “Shine” CD. “Aquas De Marco” (Waters of March) a bossa nova tune, was an exciting and up beat tune. This mixture of musical bliss was a truly satisfying treat for all in attendance.
Boney James’ up beat and intuitive tunes along with his passionate fans made the night a memorable one. James had the crowd on their feet as he conjured up an array of moods with his energizing performance. Boney James continued to take the audiences to entirely new places with his ecstatic playing and velvety grooves. There were moments between songs that Boney James strutting around the Hippodrome stage like a proud father, as if to tell the crowd, here is my new baby and it’s shining bright for all to see.
Boney James, along with new label mate Concord Records debut “Shine” CD is off to a bright start. “Shine” features guest appearances by hip-hop/soul diva Faith Evans, jazz-guitar icon George Benson, R&B vocalists Dwele and Phillip Bailey, keyboard wizard George Duke, alternative-pop singer Esthero and Sounds of Blackness powerhouse Ann Nesby.
Boney James’ new CD “Shine” is his tenth recording, his first with the new label Concord Records. The “Shine” CD sold nearly 20,000 copies in its first week of release. This exceptional new CD “Shine” should be in everyone’s ipod. If you want a change, go out and purchase this hot sultry sexy CD. You will be glad you did.
