Washington, DC--   For those who have seen the very funny Comedy Central Show Crank Yankers, most will know there are two characters you can’t miss, a retard Special Ed who loves to yell about his poop and a drunk Bobby Fletcher who will burp through out the majority of the phone call. Who is behind these characters you ask? The very funny Jim Florentine and this past week our staff had the chance to check out his stand-up show at the Washington D.C Improv and when he hit the stage we could hardly even hold a straight face and were pretty close to letting out a Florentine-esq loud belch from the beer. Florentine, who admits he loves stand up performances and is grateful for what Crank   and has done for him.  What the show and his outlandish thoughts have done  include numerous visits to the Howard Stern Show and a date with co-host Robin Quivers, a role in the movie Beer League and even lending his voice to the video game Grand Theft Auto Vice City.  Not bad for someone who has made his living making telemarketers lives hell over the past few years all for the personal enjoyment of his crazy fans.   So what makes his performance so funny? Well for those who know his humor it is great way to throw in a retard, a drunk and young kid all onto one stage. It was just so funny hearing about his episodes of torturing regular folks like you and I with his phone calls.  He is one of the few comedians that do not need a lot of current events to put together a show. His joke about Congressman Larry Craig had us and most of the audience rolling on the floor for sure. With Jim, anything is game and his material is very original and there is never a dull moment during the show.

During his performance, Florentine shows that he is also an utmost professional when it comes to giving the fans their monies worth, as he just made his show go on around a drunk and disorderly table of young folks and was even able to “joke” about it after they tried to “F” with his concentration.

What you will learn is Jim is a very down to earth guy who has not let his fame get to his head. He has overcome so much in the past 10 years, included the suicide of his girlfriend in 1996. He says that only made his love for comedy stronger and made him push on to where he is today. He loves interacting with his fans and hearing about how people have grown to love his crude way to tell jokes through phone calls and puppets. Great job Jim, you are truly hilarious and all we can say is yeaaaaaaaaaaaay your show is so funny it almost made us poop.
