Dayton, OH--
Again the Hoyas have shown that they have one of the most driven teams of the NCAA tournament so far this year as they again dominated another top seeded team in the Ohio State Buckeyes, who just could not find a way to stop Roy Hibbert inside.
Hibbert who dominated the game from start to finish led the Hoyas with 20 points and 12 rebounds.
Terrence Dials did make some noise for Ohio State with 19 points, but the 6-9 260 pound center proved no match for the 7-2 Hibbert who just might carry the Hoyas to the Final Four in Indianapolis.
Hibbert hit four of his first five shots from the field and had nine points as the Hoyas streaked to a 20-10 lead in the opening 10½ minutes.
"Roy played one of his best games in a Hoyas uniform. He has just really stepped it up this weekend. He has carried this team and the other guys have followed along with him," said Hoyas Head Coach John Thompson III.
"It was very appropriate that it was on this stage. It was indicative of how our team played all year," Thompson said. "For us to win, everyone has to help, from me on down. Our guys did their part. We've got a group of guys that want to keep playing, and they did all the little effort things tonight that make you win."
The Hoyas led, 38-25, at halftime, and their advantage never slipped below six points in the second half. Georgetown had an answer for everything the Buckeyes did.
After the final seconds ticked away, the happy Hoyas pointed to the elder Thompson at courtside, who stood and raised a fist and flashed a smile as wide as any he wore during Georgetown's run to the NCAA title in 1984.
