Washington, DC--During some parts of tonight's against the Milwaukee Bucks game, it appeared that the Wizards did not have enough to match the red hot Bucks shooting led by Micheal Redd, but again Gilbert Arenas had a different idea for the outcome of tonight's game, take the game in his own hands.
Arenas for the second straight home game Arenas finished the game with a strong fourth quarter effort finishing with 29 points and 11 assists. After a horrible third quarter, he brushed his shoulders off and made one of the game's biggest plays, a driving layup in which he scooped in a shot over the long arms of Milwaukee's Charlie Villanueva, giving the Wizards a 112-108 lead with 32 seconds remaining. It turned out to be the difference in the game.
"We are going to keep fighting," Arenas said. "At the beginning of last year, we would have lost this game. I remember losing the same game the same way. It shows the character that we are going to stay in there and fight and get stops in the game when it counts."
Michael Redd scored 28 points to lead the Bucks, who have lost three straight. Charlie Villanueva added 18, and Andrew Bogut had 15 before fouling out with 1:47 to play.
"Our guys hung in there tonight. We have lost some close games on the road and tonight it shows how our team wants to win and will play to the final minute to get that victory. No one gave up tonight, even when Milwaukee came back in the third quarter," said Wizards Head Coach Eddie Jordan.
The Bucks which were projected to make it to the playoffs this season have some great shooters, but Bucks Head Coach Terry Slotts felt differently about thier performance tonight.
"We did a lot of good things, but we didn't finish them off," Stotts said. "You almost have mixed emotions because we played with good energy and we played inspired, but, bottom line, we didn't make the plays needed to win those games."
