Just a few games ago on November 24th, the Memphis Grizzlies held Gilbert Arenas to a season low three points. He made sure tonight was not a repeat performance against the Grizzlies in his own building.

Arenas led the way with 31 points on a 9 for 13 effort from the field and a perfect 10 for 10 from the free throw line.

The Wizards recieved another huge night from Caron Butler, 19 points and with the effort tonight, has scored at least 20 points in six consecutive games -- averaging 27.6 points and shooting 49.5 percent (60 for 121) -- to raise his scoring average to 20 points per game.

"I am helping this team in any way possible, said Butler. It could be 10 or 30, every little bit helps this team win games. That is my role on this team."

The Wizards, who have won 11 of their last 14, will be gunning for their first four-game winning streak of the season and that might come as early as tomorrow when they face the Bobcats and could overtake Orlando for first place in the Southeast Division by the end of the week.

Former Wizard Chucky Atkins scored seven points during a 15-0 run that pulled the Grizzlies within 106-94 in the fourth quarter.

The Wizards scored 45 points in the first quarter, a Verizon Center record for any quarter dating back to 1997 when the building opened as the MCI Center. It was also a season high, eclipsing the 40 points recorded against the Miami Heat on Dec. 15.
