Many days of stepping in the Wizards locker room after a good ole fashion A---whooping like this wouldn't have been very pleasureable for the Wizards, but tonight all of the players knew that if there was a beating to be had they would have rather it come against one of the premier teams in the league in the San Antonio Spurs.

Gilbert Arenas led the Wizards with 29 points on 10-of-24 shooting but finished with one assist and three turnovers. Washington shot 32.6 percent, totaled 11 assists and trailed by double digits beginning early in the first quarter

"That was a flat-out, 48-minute beating," Jordan said. "From the beginning right to the end. I told our guys I hope they take something from it."

A lot of people have said that the Wizards have struggled to find the right mix since Antawn went down with his injury, but according to Arenas a whooping is something that happend last time against the Spurs when they had him in the line-up.

"We got whipped up there, too, and Antawn was part of that whipping," Arenas said. "You have to have a perfect game to beat them. If we want to be a contending team, we have to watch teams like this."

Caron Butler, who had a career high on Monday night against Seattle managed just 15 points and was the only other Wizards player in double figures.

Jarvis Hayes, who started in place of Jamison struggledscoring only five points on 2-for-8 shooting. This has been a sore spot in the line-up with the mix of Hayes, Darius Songalia and Calvin Booth not really meshing for much production off the Wizards bench.

For the Wizards it did not matter who was on or off their game tonight as the Spurs took a commanding lead just seconds after the opening tip-off. Tim Duncan and Tony Parker led the way for the Spurs each scoring 20 points.

San Antonio set the nets on fire shooting 62 percent in the first half and led by double digits for all but the first 4:05 of the game.

"It was one of our better games of the year, very honestly, at both ends of the court," Spurs Head Coach Gregg Popovich said.

The Wizards finished tonight's game shooting a dismal 32 percent on a 29-89 effort from the field. Not too many positives from tonight for a Wizards team that might just need the All Star break come next week.
