Washington, DC--
The Washington Wizards have had a rough road since losing their superstars, but tonight the road just got a little bit easier courtesy of the Indiana Pacers, who lost to the 76ers, 90-86 and gave the Wizards their third straight trip to the playoffs. So what lies ahead is another story as the Wizards continue to unfold on the court as they reeled off another loss ot the Nets, 96-92.
Antawn Jamison again was the lone bright spot for the Wizards as he led the team with 26 points and 11 rebounds but he could not get a shot in the final two minutes as the team found yet another way to lose without its injured all-stars.
Tonight's game was another night where the Wizards just did not have the calls going their way. Two times it looked as if Deshawn Stevenson should have gotten at least one foul call driving to the basket, but like the season has gone in the past two weeks, nothing went their way tonight.
"If you don't have the right name on your back, you don't get the calls," Stevenson said. "In the end, we didn't get the calls. They got them, and you can't win a ball game like that."
Richard Jefferson finished the game with a season-high 35 points, Vince Carter had 31, and Jason Kidd finished with four points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists for the Nets, who made 25 of 29 free throws.
After the game Eddie Jordan had a lot to say about the way the Wizards season has gone, more importantly he really stressed the past couple of weeks.
"I always say that in December and January, when we were going pretty darn good, that I always felt like I'm walking on the edge of a cliff and about to fall off," coach Eddie Jordan said. "I've been feeling that way a whole lot lately."
