Washington, DC--
There are some stories that are just plain boring and might just lose your attention before you open the cover, but the one of the Wizards 16th Pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, Nick Young is one that people will want to pay attention to, especially Wizards fans.
For those who never had the chance to see Young play at USC, the 6 foot 7 200 pound forward, offers the Wizards a player that is well rounded and has a chance to contribute immediately. Young was second in the Pacific-10 in scoring as a junior last season (17.5 points per game) and shot 52.5 percent as USC advanced to the round of 16of the 2007 NCAA Tournament.
“I am very happy to be here. This is a good opportunity for me. Mr. Grunfeld and the coaching staff are just unbelievable. I am very excited to be here and I want to thank everyone for welcoming me here to Washington. This is a great situation for me, and I’m looking forward to getting on the court with my new team and contributing however I can.”
Young's travels to the NBA and the Wizards are part of a documentary that started filming back in 2003 and is titled "Second Chance Season" and chronicles Young's journey from being one of the Los Angeles area's top high school stars to Thursday night when his NBA dream became reality.
“The support of my family and my surroundings helped me get to this point. I had a dream and goals and everyone kept pushing me. I never gave up, and I’m never going to give up. This is the start of a lot of things for me. I reached a goal to get here, but I have new goals now, and I’m just happy and ready to give it my all here.”
Young will now travel back into the spotlight as the Washington Wizards travel to Las Vegas for Summer League action which starts July 10th, where both Young and the Wizards hope what happens in Vegas doesn't stay in Vegas.
