Washington, DC--
Midnight Madness on the campus of Georgetown has just become a little bit more enjoyable after the Hoyas run to the Final Four last season. They have gone from not holding an event like this 10 years ago to a Nationally Televised event on ESPN U to even having celebrities in the crowd, like Dancing With the Stars alum Jerry Rice.
Events inside of McDonough Arena tonight included performances by the GU pep band, cheerleaders, Groove Theory, Georgetown Dance Team and of course some amazing dunking by the men's basketball program. A John Thompson III introduction of "We are Georgetown" is always one of the highlights of the night.
Player introductions for both the men's and women's teams and the unveiling of the 2007 Final Four Banner, as well as speeches from Head Men's Basketball Coach John Thompson III and Head Women's Basketball Coach Terri Williams-Flournoy rounded out the night for the introduction of what both teams hope will be a very promising 2007-08 season
"There are a lot of expectations of this team this season. We hope to repeat what we did last season and come home with a trophy for all of these fans this year," said Hoyas Head Coach John Thompson III.
