If the Georgetown Hoyas were looking to make some noise in the Big East Tournament, today they did just that with an impressive game of shooting the long ball.

The Hoyas tied a Big East Tournament record with 17 made three pointers set by West Virginia last year and moved on to play Friday night in the Semi-Finals with a victory over Villanova, 82-63.

Georgetown got off to a blazing start behind Jonathan Wallace's five three pointers in the first half in route to a 20 point effort.

Villanova who played a few minutes of the first half without their star Scottie Reynolds, who went down and came up with a gash over his left eye possibly from running into the baseline camera. His absence put Villanova in a hole and down by as many as 15 points late in the first half.

After Reynolds checked back into the game, Villanova went on a 26-9 run after Georgetown forward Patrick Ewing Jr. picked up a technical for throwing the ball in the air after a foul under his own basket

The Hoyas took a commanding lead at 73-58 when Jesse Sapp hit a three pointer with 3:41 remaining in the game.

Villanova hit another drought when there was over two minutes remaining, but did not score until Reynolds hit a lay-up with 1:20 remaining.

"I think Villanova battled as hard as anyone could have out there today. When they made that run it took a lot of the fuel out of us. When we lost Roy and Vernon, our guys kept our composure and were able to take home the victory," said Hoyas Head Coach John Thompson III.

The Hoyas will advance to play either fourth-seeded Connecticut or No. 5 seed West Virginia in the semifinals on Friday.
