When you finish a game with 19 turnovers that usually does not equate to putting another W in the win column and tonight the Hoyas found out that a unranked opponent in the Big East could come into the Verizon Center and take advantage of their miscues and take home a victory. This exactly what the Mountaineers did tonight in a 75-58 victory.

For the Hoyas they had more than one chance to stay in this game as they trailed by just 5 points at the half 31-26 and still had the game within reason at six with with the first T.V time out with 15:49 remaining in the second half.

With a little more aggressive Hoyas style defense they were able to creep even closer at 45-43 after Omar Wattad hit a lay-up with 11:50 remaining.

The Hoyas continued to make mistakes with under 10 minutes that allowed for the Mountaineers to build a mountain that the Hoyas could not find a way to climb.

With 3:44 remaining the Hoyas found their chances all but out of range when the Mountaineers built a 10 point lead at 62-52 behind Da'Sean Butler.

Butler scored 27 points for the second straight game, his fifth 20-point game of the season. Butler matched a career high with 11 made field goals (11-of-18 FG) and added eight rebounds.

Chris Wright scored 13 points, DaJuan Summers had 12 and Greg Monroe added 11 for the Hoyas (12-5, 3-3), who have lost two of their first four home conference games.

Another game note worth looking at was that Georgetown went 2-for-16 from 3-point range and again had trouble on the boards, allowing 16 second-chance points on West Virginia's 14 offensive rebounds.

"We made a lot of mistakes in the second half, and 19 turnovers is unacceptable," said Hoyas Head Coach John Thompson.

The loss snaps Georgetown's 25-game home win streak vs. unranked opponents. Their last loss was Jan. 8, 2007 vs. Villanova. The Hoyas shot just 2-of-17 (11.8%) from 3-point range, their worst performance from behind the arc since Nov. 29, 2006 vs Oregon.
