Memphis, TN--
If you are traveling to Memphis in the near future and you are looking for a way to unwind from the events of Memphis in May or just a hard day at work in the South, why not enjoy a day at the spa. With relaxation in mind, we have found one or maybe even the best spas to unwind and it is located just minutes from downtown Memphis off Poplar Avenue at Therapy Day Spa.
Soon after we arrived at Therapy, we could tell this was going to be a place customers could relax and enjoy. Located in a small strip mall right off one of Memphis' main roads to the downtown area, Therapy will welcome you with that Southern hospitality that is sure to keep you coming back time after time.. Not to mention what will really keep you coming back, is their services and their highly trained employees that really know what a good service is all about.
While we have been to many salons and spas over the past few years, our last experience in Las Vegas probably will be tough to compete with anytime in the near future, but we did find a strong candidate and more pleasurable experience in Memphis this year with the folks at Therapy Day Spa.
Part of Therapy's dedication to ensuring a great treatment starts with the owner herself, Yolanda Johnson, who is not just another business owner in this spa world, but also a manicurist and aesthetician as well. So if Yolanda can't find a way for you to relax, then there probably is no one in the industry that can. Johnson has also gathered some of the more experienced staff found in the Memphis area and combined them with her strong spa coordinator Nita Martin, who simply put, knows customer service and what a spa customer needs. Her smiling face and jovial attitude is what makes this a first class operation at Therapy Day Spa.
Our treatment day started with Swedish massage that turned into a combination of massage techniques. Our therapist, Amber, used her knowledge of massage therapy to combine some deep tissue along with the standard relaxing strokes that generally revitalize the body with each movement of her hands.
Since we generally have both a male and female review a massage to see how well trained the staff really is, we are happy to say that Amber knows how to take care of those pressure points and relieve stress at the same time for both men and women. Some massage therapists will just feel as if they are not even massaging points that need attention. Amber used her knowledge and training to combine both techniques for much rewarded body at the end of the session. She certainly used every last minute of the time and even took the time to discuss some of the methods involved with the treatment and asked if there were any areas of concern that needed to be worked.
The Swedish massage and the end result is well worth the $65 that Therapy has listed on their menu. Some other spas of this quality charge double and the end result did not leave us feeling the same way.
For those of you who are look for a short afternoon or evening way to relax, we suggest taking advantage of Therapy's Personalized Mini-Massage, which is a have it your way massage, choosing a combination of areas desired to be worked and is a great way to spend 30 minutes of your time and is well worth the $45 they have listed.
Once you have relaxed with a Body Treatment, which also included polishes and tanning applications, we highly suggest the strongest selling point of Therapy, their Facial Treatments. If you schedule an appointment with Donna, you will for sure be telling your friends all about it. Her experience and dedication to her clients might just make her the best in the field in Memphis.
Our first facial was the Echo 2 Oxygen Therapy Facial, which included extractions of clogged pores and Donna even plucked a couple of eyebrows as well.
The Oxygen facial starts with a bit of lotion and massage to the hands and fingers and then a soothing heat glove is applied during the entire facial which once she is finished leaves an awesome feeling on your hands. They are still soft today..
After a quick rub down of the shoulders and tension points on the face, Donna delivered her magic combining the exfoliation and cleaning of the skin which left one of the freshest feelings in some time it almost gave goose bumps on the skin it was so good.
The oxygen facial is completed with a quick mask and nice hot wrap to complete the oxygen that is applied to skin in a cool manor. It is just a relaxing feeling you will not find anywhere else.
Again, the facial with extractions for $85 is well worth Donna's time. She is not about the masses, rather she focuses on making you look like a celebrity.
If you thought the Oxygen facial was the way to go and relax to the fullest, we highly recommend the Four Layer facial. This facial is designed to soften lines and eliminate the toxins the skin produces. This might be a great treatment to think about after a night of drinking on the town. Add the seaweed to the treatment and the vitamins soaking into your skin will have you looking fresh in no time. This facial is the best thing going on the menu for $90. Other spas sometimes are priced close to $200 for the same treatment.
At Therapy, there are a total of six different facials available for you to choose from. Try one of the two above and you will be coming back for more.
Therapy Day Spa also offers a full line of Nail Services from Manicures to Pedicures, they have state of the art equipment and friendly faces waiting to take care of your needs.
