Pittsburgh, PA--
After a few more recommendations for properties in Pennsylvania, we simply could not pass up the opportunity to take a look at the Westin Pittsburgh Convention Center. When you check into one of their suites, you will see why they have everything you need under one roof. This is one of those hotels that when you check in, your really do not want to check out.
When you arrive you will see why the Westin is hard to miss… The lobby is grand… and we mean grand… Plenty of light open areas and no way that you going to run into people when walking though the front door. Going round and round a couple of times through the revolving door is always fun.. Just not on a freezing cold day, which Pittsburgh only offered us on one of the two days at the hotel.
Upon check-in guests can expect superb service. Our experience started with a pleasant front desk staff that immediately asked where we were from and how our trip was so far. Before we could blink, the bellman was right there asking if we needed any help to our room with our madness of bags for two days.
If you’re looking for the business suite that meets all of your needs then they definitely have exactly what you need. The space in the suites is amazing. If you are looking for a Suite View of one of the many bridges of Pittsburgh from your window while discussing business over lunch, this is your place. The boardroom size table in the room is perfect for as many as 10-12 people for that perfect discussion. We say party, you might say otherwise... Either way, this is the place if you need to pack the house.
The heavenly bed features signature exquisitely soft bedding, which will send you into a dreamer’s paradise. All items in the Room are Westin Brand and have the ability to be purchased directly via Westin's website as well as directly at the hotel. If you have ever wanted to take that bed home with you, now’s your chance, order now and deliver right to your front door. As we have told you in previous reviews, the heavenly beds are absolutely addicting!
What we really liked is the “Green Friendly” energy efficient “Smart Rooms” that the Westin Pittsburgh has in place in each room. There is a slot just inside the door and when you return you put your key card into this slot and it automatically starts your heat, and turns your lights back on. It all stays on as long as the card is in the slot. When you leave, and take the key card it shuts everything down, for energy conservation.
While your on the road most travelers at the end of the day just want a nice relaxing shower to ease the pain of day of work and if you want a shower that will make you want to install one all your own then the dual head shower hits in all the right places to ensure that you can drown all of your sorrows away if you need to. Combine the extra eight inches of room with the curved shower road and hand spun cotton towels and the terry cloth bathrobe, you may not want to go home.. Don’t worry; most of the Heavenly products are available for purchase right from the catalog on the desk.
For those in the mood for working out and keeping fit on business or pleasure, the hotel features an 9,000-square-foot Westin WORKOUT facility located on the fourth floor, where you can recharge with free weights, aerobic equipment, Nautilus training, an indoor lap pool, steam, sauna, message therapy, and aerobic classes. Gym Rats, Gilbert Arenas this includes you, what can we say, this is all you need to never miss a beat. For some reason if you haven’t missed a breakfast buffet or meal on your trip, then this gym is your place.
If you are looking for one of the best places to grab a bite to eat, look no further than the lobby where the Original Fish Market is located. It was so delightful, that we decided to add that portion into a separate review.
The Westin was also very close walking distance to all kinds of interesting things in Pittsburgh's downtown Golden Triangle, including Heinz Field and PNC Park, the Andy Warhol Museum, the Cultural District, the Strip District, the Heinz History Museum, and the Monongahela Incline.
Overall, if you are looking for the perfect place that hits on all cylinders in Pittsburgh, and then book your next stay at the Westin Pittsburgh Convention Center, you will be glad you did. This is a property that performs at the Four Star level, but you will leave feeling like you had five star services.
